Giancarlo Bodoni

Giancarlo Bodoni is a professional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) athlete renowned for his technical mastery, competitive achievements, and passion for teaching. Born in Miami, Florida in 1995, Giancarlo began his martial arts journey at a young age initially training in various martial arts before discovering his lifelong passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 12. Giancarlo has trained under instructors such as Rillion Gracie and Lucas Lepri, who awarded him his black belt in 2020.

In 2021, Giancarlo joined the renowned New Wave Jiu-Jitsu team in Austin, Texas, training under legendary instructor John Danaher alongside prominent athletes like Gordon Ryan and Garry Tonon. His commitment to continuous improvement is evident not only in competition but also through his teaching and instructional work, including the widely acclaimed series on BJJ Fanatics. 

Giancarlo's competitive record is nothing short of remarkable. He secured the prestigious ADCC World Championship title in the under 88kg division consecutively in 2022 and 2024, becoming the first athlete to achieve back-to-back victories in this category, while also placing 4th in the Absolute in 2024. Additionally, he earned gold at the IBJJF Pan No-Gi Championship in 2021 and won the IBJJF World No-Gi Championship as a brown belt in 2019.

Outside the mats, Giancarlo is deeply passionate about the outdoors, frequently engaging in archery, hiking, and exploring nature. Proudly representing his American heritage, Giancarlo consistently embodies discipline, resilience, and a profound respect for the United States. 

Through seminars and retreats as well as coaching his regular students, Giancarlo actively fosters a global community of practitioners, sharing his expertise and infectious enthusiasm for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
